Credo che l’arte sia la mia più grande passione e fare l’artista sia sempre stato il mio sogno, tutti ne abbiamo almeno uno, ma non tutti hanno la fortuna, che io ho avuto, di conoscere direttamente i propri idoli, coloro che motivano le nostre ambizioni e che rappresentano un punto di riferimento al quale ispirarci. Li guardiamo dal basso verso l’alto dei loro successi, del loro operato che così tanto amiamo. Ci regalano pura energia, voglia di fare, di creare, attivano la fantasia che asseconda le nostre inclina- zioni naturali. La mia arte, come penso quella di chiunque si approcci a questomondo parallelo, è la somma di ciò che i maestri, di cui sono ammaliato, mi hanno trasmesso. Mario Consiglio è l’artista che avrei voluto diventare, il genio che ha creato le opere che personalmente avrei voluto realizzare. Mi viene letteralmente la bava alla bocca, e contemporaneamente mi si contorce lo stomaco dinanzi ai suoi capolavori, so ci volumi che gon di vita straripano dalla super cie, e come animati guantoni da boxe te le danno di santa ragione, impossibile sottrarsi. L’arte di Consiglio è un duro pugno in faccia travestito da morbida carezza. Forme delicate e colori rassicuranti, ci raccontano la realtà di un mondo inaspettatamente agghiacciante. É il tragico risveglio dal sonno incantato delle favole che ci hanno raccontato sin da piccoli, la presa di coscienza di una vita indecifrabile, da percorrere con coraggio e consapevo- lezza. La sua ricetta stilistica è una sintesi perfetta di pensie- ro e azione, dove il concetto so sticato e la tecnica artigia- nale, si incastrano perfettamente in un linguaggio perso- nale che è unico al mondo. I believe that art is my greatest passion, and being an artist has always been my dream. We all harbor at least one dream, yet not everyone is fortunate enough, as I have been, to forge a direct connection with their idols — those who ignite our ambitions and serve as a reference to which we can aspire. We often gaze up at them, observing the heights of their achievements and the work we so deeply admire. They bestow upon us pure energy, a fervor for creation, and they awaken the imagination that nurtures our innate inclinations. My art, I believe, as with anyone who ventures into this parallel world, is a culmination of what the masters, who have enchanted me, have imparted. Mario Consiglio embodies the artist I aspired to be, the genius who has brought to life the works I personally yearned to create. I literally salivate, and at the same time, my stomach churns when I look at his masterpieces — soft volumes brimming with life bursting from the surface, like animated boxing gloves that confront you relentlessly, impossible to escape. Consiglio's art is a hard punch in the face disguised as a gentle caress. Delicate forms and reassu- ring colors unveil the unexpectedly chilling facets of reality. It's the tragic awakening from the enchanting slumber of the childhood fables we were raised on — a realization of an enigmatic life, one to be navigated with courage and self-awareness. His stylistic recipe serves as a perfect synthe- sis of thought and action, where re ned concepts meld seamlessly with artisanal technique, resulting in a personal language that is truly unparalleled in the world of art. Mario nasce nel 1968 a Maglie, un piccolo comune nella provincia di Lecce, ma le circostanze lo porteranno ad abbandonare prestissimo le meraviglie del Salento, per spostarsi in Germania, ad Homburg, in cui ha vissuto no all’età di 3 anni. Al rientro in Italia, dopo un anno a Verona, si trasferisce in Umbria, a Città di Castello, dove rimarrà no alla quarta elementare. Sarà Cortona a lasciargli quell’in- confondibile accento toscano, che ancora oggi contraddi- stingue la sua a abile parlata, ivi trascorrerà tutta la propria adolescenza, prima di spostarsi nuovamente, per iniziare la formazione artistica, a Urbino. Oggi Mario vive e lavora a Brufa, un’idilliaca frazione del comune di Torgiano, in provincia di Perugia, conta poco più di 600 abitanti e sorge in cima a una collina, che si a accia romanticamente sull’incantevole piana di Assisi. L’enorme nestra, che illumina il suo soggiorno, è un quadro naturale che ispira misticismo, e apre lo sguardo a quel magico paesaggio bucolico (notoriamente ricco di psilocibina) dominato dal monte Subasio, laddove un tempo, i frati francescani videro il beato Francesco, volteggiare nel cielo a bordo di un carro di fuoco, irradiando la notte profonda di luce inebriante. È rilevante, che il destino abbia portato Consiglio, a vivere la propria infanzia proprio a Città di Castello, dove nacque il celebre Alberto Burri, colui che, forse più di tutti i maestri che lo hanno artisticamente in uenzato, ha contribuito ad alimentare il suo genio creativo. Mario was born in 1968 in Maglie, a small town in the province of Lecce, but circumstances led him to leave the wonders of Salento at a very young age tomove to Germany, to Homburg, where he lived until the age of 3. Upon returning to Italy, after a year in Verona, he moved to Umbria, to Città di Castello, where he stayed until the fourth grade of primary school. It was in Cortona that he acquired that unmistakable Tuscan accent that still distinguishes his friendly speech today. He spent his entire adolescence there before moving again to begin his artistic education in Urbino. Today, Mario lives and works in Brufa, an idyllic hamlet in the municipality of Torgiano, in the province of Perugia. It has just over 600 inhabitants and is perched on a hill, romantically overlooking the enchanting plain of Assisi. The enormous window that lights up his living room is a natural painting that inspires mysticism and opens the view to that magical bucolic landscape (notoriously rich in psilocybin) dominated by Mount Subasio, where once the Franciscan friars saw blessed Francis soaring through the sky on a chariot of re, radiating the deep night with uplifting light. It is noteworthy that destiny brought Consi- glio to spend his childhood in Città di Castello, the birthplace of the renowned Alberto Burri, a gure who, perhaps more than any other artistic in uence, stoked the ames of his creative genius.
